Researchers at the Paris Center for Epidemiology and Health Research have found a paradoxical fact: type 2 diabetes, which is widely believed to be caused by excessive consumption of sugar-containing foods, can also be triggered by addiction to foods with high acidity, such as lemons.

During observations, experts concluded that women who prefer sour foods are more at risk for diabetes.

The experiment was attended by 66.5 thousand women, studying the diet of which doctors found that ladies who prefer foods with high acidity are more likely to get type 2 diabetes. In participants who consumed foods with the highest levels of acidity, the risk of diabetes increased by 56%.

According to scientists, a diet containing foods with low acidity can be shown to people at risk for diabetes. True, research in this area is still in its infancy.
