If your kid got the role of a ninja, sew him a costume with your own hands.

Do-it-yourself ninja costume for a boy: materials and tools

The ninja costume consists of a sweatshirt, trousers, cape and belt. If desired, you can add Limb Protection to the costume. It is made in the same colors as the wrap. From this, she effectively stands out against the background of black pants and sweatshirts.

The main question remains what to sew from. The quality of the fabric does not matter, but mostly the plain cotton fabric is used for the pants and sweater, and the satin is dense for the cape.

Of the tools that will be required during the work will be: sharp scissors, a centimeter tape and a sewing machine.

For the accuracy of the image, you can purchase fabric stickers in the form of hieroglyphs or a dragon in the sewing department. You need to glue such decorations on a cloak, namely on its front and back. On the front side of the cape, the stickers are symmetrical to the right and left.

DIY do-it-yourself ninja costume for boy: kimono

The main clothes of the ninja are a jacket and trousers. You can make a jacket in two options: in the form of a kimono or an ordinary sweater with a hood.

Option 1

In this version, the jacket will be sewn like a kimono (a jacket with a special cut smell). The front of the jacket has ties.

Stage 1

In order to sew a sweater it is necessary to take measurements. The following values will be required: jacket height (distance from the collar to the bottom of the jacket), chest circumference, sleeve length (distance from the shoulder to the wrist or elbow).

Stage 2

Transfer the dimensions to the fabric and you can start drawing details on the pattern. Such a pattern is considered to be a simple variant of a sweater for this suit.

Stage 3

Cut parts from fabric. You should get two front parts and two back and two sleeve parts.

Sew cut elements together.

Stage 4

Fold and stitch the cut edges of the jacket, and on the top edge, put a 5 cm wide border. To do this, cut a strip of fabric 12-14 cm wide and fold it in half. Stitch it to the top edge of the jacket through the neck, bending inwards the edges. The long ends should extend beyond the jacket on both sides no less than 50 cm from the edge.

Option 2

Sweatshirt with long sleeves and a hood.

Stage 1

Take the same measurements from the child as in the first embodiment. Transfer them to the fabric and draw the outline of the pattern.

Stage 2

Cut the resulting parts and sew them together. First, the front part and the back are sewn, and then the sleeves are sewn into the holes. After sew the hood.

Stage 3

Tighten the cut edges of the bottom of the jacket, sleeves and hood and sew, stepping back from the edge of at least 0.5 cm. You can insert a thread with a length lock into the hood. To do this, cut holes in the folded edge of the hood near the collar at the same level. Insert the thread into one hole, stretch along the entire tucked strip and remove from the second hole. Thread the lock.

DIY Boy Ninja Costume: Pants

This suit has loose cut trousers, but if you wish, you can make them on the body.

Stage 1

Measure your boy. You need to take measurements: the length of the pants (from the belt to the lowest point of the pants), hip and leg circumference.

Stage 2

Transfer the results to the fabric. To do this, fold the fabric in two layers and draw the details on the pattern.

Stage 3

Sew first the two upper ribs together, then scroll the fabric so that the seam is in the middle and the fabric is folded in half on the sides. Sew the bottom two ribs of the fabric of each part separately to each other.

Stage 4

At this stage, tuck the untreated edges of the pants and sew along the entire length, departing from the edge of 1 cm. Insert the elastic into the back of the belt and leg. Pants are ready.

DIY Boy Ninja Costume: Cape

The cape is worn on top of the jacket with hoods and tied with a fabric belt. She looks more like a vest.

Stage 1

For the cut of this detail, you will need to know the height of the product, the width of the back plus 15 cm. For each shoulder, the circumference of the gate. The cloak can be either solid or with a vertical neckline for ease of dressing. Both that and other option are cut out on almost identical pattern.

Stage 2

Apply a part contour to the fabric and throw 1 cm. Around the entire perimeter for the seam. Cut out the part that you get on the fabric.

Stage 3

Cut two pieces in the shape of a cloak shoulder from a strong but not very thick cardboard. These are hard shoulders that will hold the edge hanging over the shoulder. Cardboard can replace flexible plastic, for example, from under the packaging from a toy.

Stage 4

At this stage, you need to evenly sew a piece of cardboard into the extreme bent seam of the cape. To do this, combine the fabric part and the cardboard part so that the bend of the shoulder of the fabric corresponds to the bend of the cardboard. Cardboard is applied to the inside of the fabric. Wrap the cut edge of the fabric on cardboard and sew in your hands with a rough seam. Do the same with the second shoulder.

Stage 5

Work the outer edges of the cloak by tucking and stitching them, departing from the edge of 1 cm. Leave the inner fabric at the neck intact.

Stage 6

Cut the cardboard, if necessary, at the neck so that it is already 1.5 cm wide in width. Tuck the cloak neck fabric onto the cardboard and fix it with a hand rough seam.

Stage 7

Sew the inner edge of the cloak, as well as the outer tucking and stitching along the edge, departing 1 cm from the edge. Now you have a cape with hard shoulders that can be tucked up without creases.

On the front side of this cloak for decoration, dragon stickers and hieroglyphs, which were mentioned at the beginning of the article, are glued. Stickers purchased are glued under a hot iron, so if you are afraid to spoil the synthetic fabric, you can sew pictures with your hands or sew on a sewing machine along the contour.

DIY Boy Ninja Costume: Limb Protection

Ninja limb protection was made of strong material to protect in battle. For the beauty of the costume, protect the limbs in the same color as the cloak.

Stage 1

Cut two 20x20 cm squares and two 15x15 cm squares from the fabric.

Stage 2

Sew the edges of the fabric. Better if you wrap them in and stitch them around the perimeter of the part.

Stage 3

From fabric of another darker color, cut two strips 10 cm wide and 1 meter long. Exactly the same stripes, only 50 cm long. Do for the hands. It is not necessary to process the cut edge on them, since they will not fluff, because they will be tied to the legs and hands motionless.

Your hand and foot protection is ready. First, a ninja costume is sewn on a boy with his own hands. After that, a cloak is put on over the sweater and tied with a sash, and protection is applied to the arms and legs over the clothes and tied with long strips of fabric that you specially cut for this.
