Ambulance at the cottage: we hope for the best, but we are preparing for the worst. What can happen to the baby in the country and how to act in this case

In the country, emergency events are not uncommon. Children spend a lot of time on the street, and the nearest clinic is not close. Parents need to know how to give their child first aid.

Hand and foot injuries

The kid fell off the bike unsuccessfully, tripped over a tree root or stone, awkwardly jumped off a swing? The pain is an understandable outcome of such an incident. Do not check whether the child can move a damaged limb. Instead of this:

- sit next to the child, hug, say that now look what is there;

- watch - with a bruise, the baby will quickly calm down, start playing again;

- if the injury is more serious, the baby will protect the damaged arm or leg, holding it in one position.

The characteristic signs of a fracture are edema and hematoma of black or blue color, which appear very quickly, obvious deformation, pain that does not subside within fifteen to twenty minutes. If this is your case, go to the emergency room. Do not try to straighten the injured limb, tie a stick to it. Let the baby hold his hand or leg, as it is convenient for him or gently fix it with a scarf, clothes, and any improvised means.

Give the crumb an anesthetic based on ibuprofen or paracetamol, apply a cold. The medicine will begin to act in about half an hour, which will facilitate the condition of the baby before a medical examination.

Head injuries

Did the child fall from the swing or run under them, fell off the tree, cling to the horizontal bar?

- Drag it from the swing or horizontal bar, remove it from the slide.

- Assess the condition of the victim. If he immediately burst into tears, then he did not lose consciousness. If after some time, a brief faint is not excluded. Be sure to report this symptom to your doctor.

- You see that the baby in the mind calmed down a bit. Examine it, mark where the bump is, whether there is blood, or if the teeth are in place.

Concussion is accompanied by the following symptoms: drowsiness, headache, nausea, vomiting, cold sweat, pallor. If the child is unconscious, but breathing and pulse are normal, turn the victim on his side. Call an ambulance immediately!

Foreign bodies

Children have a rich imagination, so they want to check everything on themselves.

Swallowed the inedible. Most often, the subject will come out naturally after some time. Go to the hospital if the baby swallowed:

- battery;

- something sharp (pin, needle, piece of glass);

- a foreign body with a diameter of more than one and a half centimeters and a length of more than five centimeters;

- details of the magnetic constructor.

In such cases, you cannot induce vomiting - the object may get into the respiratory tract or become stuck in the esophagus; give a laxative, massage the stomach, put enemas.

Something is stuck in your nose or ear. If you can’t remove the object with your fingers, do not make other attempts, but immediately consult a doctor. Otherwise, you can damage the fabric or push the thing even deeper.

Choked or choked. Sit on a chair, lay the child face down on your straightened legs so that the head is below the pelvis. Hit it five times on the back between the shoulder blades, check for a foreign body in the mouth. Otherwise, turn the victim upside down, vigorously press him with his palm in the middle of the sternum five times, check his mouth again. If nothing happened in two or three cycles, call an ambulance. Continue all these activities until her arrival.

Dangerous sun

Offer your baby water every fifteen minutes to prevent dehydration. If the skin turns red, you do not need to lubricate it with oil, greasy cream or sour cream - this will impede heat transfer. Moisten a soft cloth in cold water, cover the burned place. When it dries, moisten and apply again. Do not allow children to be exposed to direct sunlight for a long time, especially without a headdress!

No matter how we try to protect the child, no one is safe from accidents. However, it is in our power to teach children safety rules: do not push around on a hill, do not climb under a swing, wear a bicycle helmet. Explain that only supermen in cartoons are invulnerable. Fairies and angels exist, but they do not always have time to come to the rescue.
