One of the most popular plants in folk medicine is the golden mustache. Many call it a panacea for all diseases. But any herbal preparation has its own contraindications.

What is a golden mustache?

In scientific circles, it is called fragrant callisia. This is a fairly tall plant with shoots. In the natural habitat, the height can reach 2 meters. Many connoisseurs of this plant grow it at home. Under indoor conditions, its height barely reaches a meter.

Oblong leaves of bright green color are located on the elastic stem. When the plant reaches maturity, it releases shoots that are also provided with leaves. They can take root in the ground. These processes are called antennae.

Golden mustache blooms very rarely. Inflorescences in the form of white flowers formed in groups of three at the top of the stems.

The benefits of a golden mustache

The therapeutic effect is due to the unique combination of substances in the composition of the plant.

Chemicals in the composition of the golden mustache:

  1. Antioxidants - substances that protect the body from premature aging and damage. This group includes vitamins, minerals, carotenoids. They bind free radicals and can even repair damaged cells.


  1. Vitamin A is responsible for the condition of the skin and vision, and is also very important for wound healing. Vitamin B is responsible for hair, nail and skin regeneration. Golden mustache treatment

You can apply the plant in various forms, depending on the disease that you want to treat. In order to increase the effectiveness of treatment, leaves and mustaches are recommended to be refrigerated for 14 days.

Juice from leaves is used for compresses for skin diseases, burns, corns, cones on the bones and diseases of the joints. To do this, take the leaves grown on the antennae, cut and squeeze the juice from them. To prevent an allergic reaction, it is first desirable to dilute the concentrate with water 1 to 3. It can be used only fresh, during storage it not only loses useful properties, but can also be harmful.

Fresh juice can also be taken orally. To do this, 30 drops of juice are diluted with a tablespoon of water. You can take this mixture three times a day to strengthen the immune system.

For external use, you can make an ointment. To do this, you need to take fresh juice and combine with a regular cream in a ratio of 1 to 3. Instead of juice, you can use mashed potatoes from leaves 2 to 3. Store the finished mixture in the refrigerator.

If you don’t want to squeeze juice, you can make a compress from a steamed leaf of a golden mustache. To do this, you need to boil a clean leaf for half a minute. After that, wrap it with a thin cloth and apply it to sore spots. In this way, the formation of acne is treated.

Healing oil can be prepared as follows: leaves and shoots are crushed and lay in a glass bowl. The tank is filled with any vegetable oil in a ratio of 1 to 3 (1 - pulp, 3 oil). This mixture must be kept for 6-8 hours at a temperature of 40 degrees. To do this, you can use either a steam bath or an oven. The finished infusion must be filtered and stored in the refrigerator.

So you can rub the oil with whiskey for headaches. It can be used as a compress for diseases of the skin and joints. For the treatment of the rectum, enemas are made from oil. Infusion infused tampons are used for cervical diseases.

To prepare water tincture, it is enough to take one shoot with leaves, grind it and pour a liter of boiling water. The bank needs to be put in a dark place and insisted 24 hours. Keep such an infusion in the refrigerator. It can be used in the same way as oil, but it can also be used inside of 50 grams.

When using the golden mustache for medicinal purposes, it is very important to adhere to a diet:

  • exclude alcohol, smoking and other bad habits;
  • refuse fatty, fried and spicy foods;
  • avoid eating sweets, rolls and cakes;
  • on the days of taking the product, do not eat meat and dairy products;
  • eat as many vegetables, nuts, fruits and low-fat fish as possible.



A golden mustache may seem at first glance an elixir of youth, but do not forget about its danger. Before making a decision, it is necessary to undergo examination and consult a doctor, then you can minimize the risk of overdose.
